никто уже и не помнит когда

Russian to English Art/Literary Poetry & Literature children's literature
- Очень и очень давно, никто уже и не помнит когда, - начал рассказывать Лорр, - нашего мира еще не было.

Подскажите, please, такую фразу, которая легко увязывалась бы с началом: 'A very, very long time ago'.

agree Robert Donahue (X) : Very strange...the encoding on this page doesn't work (for me obviously). I can see what Andrew posted on his "open kudoz" page so I can see that your answer is correct : )

Yes, encoding doesn't work properly today. I have to set my encoding back to Cyrillic (Windows) whenever I go to other tabs, pages etc. Thanks Robert! :-)

Thank you Anneta! :-)
agree Mikhail Kropotov : I think there are some words missing in your translation, - it's ambiguous as is. I would add "so long ago *that* no one remembers" or something like that.

possible, but not essential. Thank you Mikhail! :-)
agree Jack Doughty : I should leave out and where", as the asker suggests, even though "where and when" (or vice versa) is a common expression.
