Register is not the problem with rich bitch, but the context is not limited to women´s clothes.

The filthy rich look.

Often 80's fashion was ostentatious and over-the-top. The "more is more" look, if you like. This is in direct opposition to the pare down look of the 90's when "less was more", but equally as expensive. ;)
