I wonder if the points system shouldn’t be abolished: http://www.proz.com/forum/prozcom_suggestions/242950-should_the_kudoz_points_system_be_abolished.html. It encourages people to rush and answer for the sake of it or before they've put much thought into what they’re saying. The database/glossary is getting clogged up with incorrect translations and people are extracting information from it blindly without doing any further research. I've lost count of the number of times I’ve reviewed translations, come across a very bizarre term, googled it and it’s taken me straight to KudoZ - the only place where you will find such a term because it’s just been completely and utterly fabricated.
I think the evaluation process and the choice of the best answer is fine now.
It´s a two stage process: At first the colleagues comment on an answer by an agree, neutral or disagree comment and when selecting the appropriate answer it is up to the ASKER.
Therefore no need to change anything. My only negative experience in KuDoz is the "freeloader" type of colleague answering hundreds of questions and never seen with helping others.
Therefore IMHO everything is ok. | | | |
Kudos to Kudoz | | | |

This is an absolutely great resource, as it accumulates answers to difficult questions and perhaps records the thoughts of translators on new concepts as they arise.

I work with English, and the amounts of material available are sometimes overwhelming. Take two of the really big languages, and I can see the risk of overcrowding.
However, in the less widespread languages, I have never understood why some people feel you should be really desperate before you post a KudoZ question.
Very often I have been rushed for time and not able to sift half the Internet for the right term. But I have found it in the KOG, or posted a question, and someone with the right expertise has baled me out.
THANKS for patiently answering my 'easy' questions as well as the challenging ones!
So bear with us, please, those who work in the big languages.
If you don't like KudoZ, you may have other alternatives that we don't in the less common language pairs.
