I never liked 3.8.
Never understood why we need to celebrate/appreciate women in general in a certain Day. For the woman you love there is Valentines, for mom there is Mothers day. Why do we need a special Women's Day if women are not under-appreciated in general?
Please rest assured I am not a feminist. Just don't like this 3.8 idea. I guess many others are just like me, which is why no woman came to this thread yet.

Never understood why we need to celebrate/appreciate women in general in a certain Day. For the woman you love there is Valentines, for mom there is Mothers day. Why do we need a special Women's Day if women are not under-appreciated in general?
Please rest assured I am not a feminist. Just don't like this 3.8 idea. I guess many others are just like me, which is why no woman came to this thread yet.
Any way, sisters, let's celebrate ourselves for being wise strong and invincible!

Men and women are equal, no specific days to celebrate. Wow, great, a lady with post doctorate, who represents outstanding figure among fellow women. We all remember that just one hundred years ago or so, the feet of China's women were wrapped with cloth, while today some of women are still worn in strict custom clothing and abide by strict regulations elsewhere in the world.

Yes we've been so lucky to have had the chance to get education and see the world.
Listened to a talk months ago and was shocked. A social worker talked about how women are just getting infected and children born of AIDS in Africa. She said that in Africa a wife can never say no to the husband. If she refuses sex, the husband will throw both her and the Children (THOSE ARE HIS CHILDREN TOO!) out to the streets. So they know their husbands have being sleeping with prostitutes and even know that they have AIDS and they (the wives) will be infected, they go ahead do whatever the husbands want without any protection. And they give birth to babies with AIDS. The whole thing is just sad and frustrating.
Sorry being a little passionate about it. A colleague just showed me yesterday that Sub-SaharanAfrica had nearly 3 million (!) new HIV infection over last year. Very disturbing.
By the way redred, I am by no means representitive of outstanding figures for women. I am still finding my way around.

在PROZ 中文論壇可以看到。但看看中國的領導層，是清一色男人天下，還是需要有三八婦女節提醒大家，婦女的地位仍有待提高。

我觉得有不少女性并不想平等。独立性强、愿意和男性平等相处的女性有（我想这里不少MM翻译都是），小鸟依人型、愿意相夫教子站在老公背后的也很多。
我觉得在这个问题上不能一刀切。

相夫教子并不等于放弃平等地位。如果相夫教子能获得丈夫的尊重，就是平等；如果不被尊重，就是不平等。如果丈夫觉得老婆做饭看孩子是天经地义不知appreciate，那就是老婆地位还有待提高。
Housewife 其实是很难做的，真能相夫教子做得好也需要天才。Housewife是我很艳羡的一种生活方式（well, if I could make it half-time  ）。男人如果以为女人愿意相夫教子就是选择不平等就不对了。家庭分工，除了个人喜好也是为了一个家更有生存力。
看看美国的很多housewife，把家打理得有模有样，孩子弄得高高兴兴，还有时间参加bookclub 健美班什么的，不佩服不行。她们的老公也应该知道自己身在福中才对。

如果不被尊重，就是不平等, yes, I totally agree with you!

這樣幹法，大家覺得怎樣？我自己是喜歡得很，覺得挺公平。
我基本上認為人人平等，若不先談人權，是沒什麼男權女權好談的。女權主義者也要先好好學會做人，才能為還在不公平境遇中的舉世其他女同胞爭取她們的人權。當然我對任何不公平的制度都懷抱針刺般的批判精神，不願輕易放其過關；不過也得估量自己人微言輕，能做的也只是自己能力範圍所及之內可以做的一點點。
每個人盡己之力好好活著，我們大家就都可以好好慶祝「human as animal 節」：除了 all human are equal 外，人類也要把自己當成謙卑的動物，對地球、自然、其他動物，都有所尊敬與愛，才成。
