Very odd behavior indeed. I believe a simple "thank you" would be common courtesy in a situation like this, similar to getting directions from a perfect stranger who was willing to help.

Actually I find the attitude even more perplexing than the provision for the not-for-points option. At least the latter could be explained by an attempt to cover all contingencies and make everyone happy, as pointed out by several people above.

BTW, David, San Francisco must have some really nosy doctors... they sound like they all practice in fertility clinics

我觉得Proz是一个蛮好的大家庭,至少在目前的我看来如此。现在天天要上来看这个论坛。有了互联网,这个世界真小呀,仿佛就在眼前。

KudoZ 原本是同仁帮助同仁的好设施,有没有分数其实都无妨,但派给分数一方面是对帮助自己的人表示感谢,另一方面表示承认 credits。真正的图报倒也不必,因为帮助的人也许根本不需要报答,反倒希望被帮助的人善待、帮助他人。

我遇到的不说 "Thank you" 情况不多,但挺离谱的是提问者得到正确的答案,感谢的不是提供正确答案的同仁,而是 agree 那个答案的人。当时我纳闷怎会有这样的情况发生,但事后想一想,如果提问者不需要那位答题者提供答案,答题者凭什么帮助他?怎么说,答题者自己可以选择答或不答。谁也不欠谁,不是吗?

我觉得可能这个是操作上的技术失误 May 10, 2007

这个可能不是故意要给agree的人的。最可能在回复的时候,点击了agree这个人下面的那个评论按钮。
不瞒你说,我刚才看着回答我问题的那个agree的人的界面,也楞了一会儿神呢。

对于象我这样对proz 的很多地方还不是很熟悉的人,可能会犯点错误的。我尽量快点学习。:)

Actually I did try to request the driving directions from Washington or SF to Shanghai, but obviously the joke does not extend to China. It told me that the direction is not available or something like that.
