А сколько неизданных книг погубили втихую, так что и концы в воду! Как предлагала Екатерина, тоже Великая: «истребить не палачом», не публично, а без лишнего шума, поскольку там цари упоминаются и о Боге написано. И сколько писем, дневников, рукописей изорвали и сожгли сами авторы, под угрозой обыска и ареста, когда опасно было не только писать, но и читать книги.

: No, "wherever" is quite the opposite to the original. "Без шума" as they mention God and tsars - not because of that
