This result was due primarily to a decrease of cash and cash equivalents as a consequence of implementing capital investment and return to shareholders, and a decrease of investments and advances due to a decline in stock prices. Stockholders' equity decreased 429.0 billion yen, compared with the end of the last fiscal year, to 3,313.3 billion yen as of December 31, 2008.
