Portuguese term

deflagrada

Portuguese to English Bus/Financial Finance (general)
Bom dia! Como traduziriam "deflagrada" no contexto abaixo?
"which started in 2008"? ou simplesmente "Can the financial crisis of 2008 affect sustainability policies"?

yes, you are right - "broken" out, depending on how it is placed syntactically; otherwise "broke out" if not the passive voice. - Mike :)
agree Georgia Kostick Almeida : it flows better in English to say 'the fin. crisis that broke out'

triggered

my suggestion

The financial crisis triggered in 2008...
A crise financeira deflagrada em 2008...
Note from asker:
Thank you Floriana, I appreciate your help but "triggered in" would not be grammatically correct. "Triggered by" "desencadeado por" would be correct but it can not be used in this case.

Good morning Marlene, and thank you, have a great weekend!
neutral Georgia Kostick Almeida : triggered would only really work here if it said 'by', i.e 'triggered by spiralling unemployment'

Well it would also work, but depending on what came before and what comes after this sentence, it could have already mentioned what triggered it, and if so you would be repeating it.
agree Bartat : Concordo com Georgia: "triggered by"

Thank you Bartat, have a great afternoon!
