i'm working on a mobile operator marketing project in portugal. Some portuguese guys told me that you cant speak on the second person (you) in portugal because its offensive and i should use the third one. But is this ok for mobile marketing campaigns? I think that the second person its more direct when you use sms or advertising in general

I'm giving you both options because what you've been told is right. BUT, the 2nd person is used if the target public is children/teenagers. Just recently I translated something about mobile phones and I didn't hesitate to use "tu". So, you'll have to know what is the target public.
