Is there a way to mark text in Excel as untranslatable? Preferably not only specific columns or cells, but also text with certain attributes...

The best I would have ... Jun 1, 2006

would be Alexander Okunev with his TurtoiseTagger. Check

http://www.proz.com/pro/74392

and

http://www.accurussian.net/

This stuff helped me out of a lof of tight spots - not in Excel though.

Regards

Hide Jun 1, 2006

What I always do with these cells is hide them before I open the XLS file in TagEditor and unhide them after translation. Works a treat. To make the selection of cells for hiding easier, you can try sorting the data so all cells you want to hide are in close proximity to one another.

I wouldn't know of a way to make parts of a cell untranslatable, though.

HTH,
Benjamin

Hiding sounds good! Jun 6, 2006

Benjamin:

Excellent suggestion! I have not thought about it, as usually I have the Trados filter setting to include hidden text (as often customers want it). But of works if it is turned off then it works perfectly!

As for parts of cells, this is not as important...

Vito:

Unfortunately, Tortoise Tagger works only in Word, as styles in Excel works somewhat differently...
