a few tickets still available (10.30am) Jan 11, 2010

I see there are still a few tickets (only a very few!) available to this evening's WG Sebald lecture, which will be followed by the prizegiving ceremony.

The venue is King's Place in London (near King's Cross station).

On page 2 of The Times! Jan 12, 2010

One of the most heartening aspects of this report was that, instead of being buried in the middle of The Times, it featured on page 2 of the paper, i.e. one of three editorial comments on topical items of news considered to be significant.

Just out of interest, is anyone here a member of the Society of Authors?

I'm a member of the Translators Association, which is a "subsidiary group" of the SoA. My membership card is an ordinary Society of Authors one, though, and my welcome pack bears the heading "Welcome to the Society of Authors".

I can try to answer any questions you may have, although I've been a member for less than a year so don't have in-depth knowledge about how the organisation works.
