Dear all

I have to outsource more and more jobs and am now looking for an easy, user-friendly software program that can help me manage the freelancers I work with and the people who apply for work. I would like to be able to enter the freelancers' details, and when I need someone, simply find the appropriate name by searching the database for the appropriate source and target languages and specializations. Does anyone know of such a software program?

Thanks in advance!<

Thank you for your reply, Jean-Marie. I have used Translation Office 3000 in the past, and am now using Projetex (from the same company), but I need a separate tool, as in Projetex, you can't start searching for a freelancer for a particular job before you have entered the job. And often, I don't have time to immediately enter all the incoming jobs in Projetex due to e.g. tight deadlines. So, I need a separate program...

Thanks!

Joeri

Access Aug 22, 2007

What about Access?

You can query all columns for one or more specific keywords and get as result all entries that match in a nice table.

Looking, for instance, for a specific language combination plus specialization would be a snap.

MS Excel? Aug 22, 2007

It could be very easy and user-friendly "tool". Simply create all the appropriate columns (Name, Source language, Target language, Specialization 1, Specialization 2, etc.), write in the necessary information and apply Auto Filter to each of the columns. So, in the end, you will be able to select translators basing on whatever you need!
I know it might seem an archaic method, however, an easy and convenient one.

Thank you, Heike and Evija! I had thought about Access, but I first would have to take some Access lessons first. But why not, it's certainly worth it...
Excel might be a good option as well!
Thank you both for the tips!
