Know what it means of course, but just can't think of the right word in English. The context is analysis of a questionnaire on tiger mosquitoes and the whole phrase reads:
"Dai questionari emerge la percezione di un **disagio** soggettivo “elevato” nel 35% delle persone intervistate".

How about "high levels of subjective distress"?

This is a tricky one. The word "disagio" translates different concepts (deprivation, distress, malaise/discomfort and what not)
Here, they seem to refer to the psychological consequences of living in areas infested with tiger mosquitoes.

"(high/low levels of )subjective distress", though it may sound a bit "extreme", is a variable that is found quite often in medical texts.

just another option, of course.
