English term

Come what may, hold on to your heart.

FVA Not for points English Art/Literary Poetry & Literature
It is said by a medieval soldier, after beeing freed from a group of warriors he fought for.

Could it mean "Whatever happens, never lose faith?"

Thank you!

Sorry, no further context: http://www.proz.com/post/460068

Alain Dellepiane (asker) Feb 10, 2007:
James the soldier fights with a group of soldiers lead by a Valkyrie, then she sets James free, telling him that he can stop fighting and come back home. James says farewell to the Valkyrie with that sentence.

It all depends on the context; what is this in connection with?
"heart" could mean "faith", but it could also mean "strength of character", "human kindness", "ability to love / feel tenderness".

Take your pick!
RHELLER Feb 10, 2007:
a group of warriors "he fought for"? that does not make much sense - please clarify
