I am pretty sure PVP is the material the plug is made of. Take a look:

I think they are called "lacrimal plugs" in this application, if their purpose is to plug the tear duct; if, on the contrary, to keep it open, "perforated plug". Clou-trou actually sounds more like perforated plug.

This nails it: "Le traitement des atrésies des points lacrymaux par des clous-trous".

"atrésie" is the absence of the natural orifice, so it need a perforated plug (stoma).

Yes, my mistake. It does not refer to Photoselective Vaporisation of Prostate. The text clearly associates it to tear ducts. What about clou-trou? Is that something along the lines of "pin-hole" do you think?
