As CMJ says, \"gossip magazine\" is another possibility, but I feel that this is pejorative. I don\'t think \"Hello\" magazine refers to itself as a \"gossip magazine\" any more than \"The Sun\" calls itself a \"rag\" ...
So it depends on the register of your text.

: don't want to disagree but surely "people" magazines in France are as much about pop stars as royals so "society" is OTT in my view. I'd go for "gossip"

A magazine with Robbie Williams plastered all over it is still a "society magazine" as I understand it. Perhaps I'm wrong - we'll see what the others say.

I think you can say \'celebrity magazines\', \'celebrity gossip magazines\' or \'celebrity glossies\' - there are around 9000 Google hits for \'celebrity magazines\',151 for \'celebrity gossip magazines\' and 55 for \'celebrity glossies\' if that is anything to go by. I must admit I have heard the first 2 more frequently than the third - but maybe this is a US/UK difference?
