English translation:declivous (pulmonary) area; lower part
Explanation:
The Lepine medical dictionary gives 'declivous, inclined, sloping'.

However, the only examples of 'declivous' I find on the Ouèbbhe in relation to the lungs (and there are quite a few) are in English-language articles written by Italians. ...

I strongly suspect it is simply the 'lower part' of the lung (irrespective of whether the patiient is in the Trendelenburg position or not).

The costodiaphragmatic recess is the lowest extent of the pleural sac, and so it is where any pleural effusion will collect in an upright patient.

base of the lung

Explanation:
https://www.infirmiers.com/forum/rapport-ventilation-perfusi...

En premier lieu, il faut définir ce dont on parle. Quand on parle de bases, il s'agit de la base du poumon quand le sujet est debout. Si le sujet est allongé, on parle de zones déclives.

Each lung has a base resting on the diaphragm and an apex extending superiorly to a point approximately 2.5 cm superior to the clavicle[2]. It also has a medial surface and with three borders- anterior, posterior and inferior

the base of the lung has various slopes, e.g. medial-lateral into the costophrenic recess

dependent region(s)

Explanation:
That part of the lung which is lowest, depending on body position. In supine position, the dorsal parts of the lungs are "dependent", in standing position the caudal parts, etc.

"In large mammals such as humans, there is a gravity-induced gradient that causes the volume of alveoli in dependent lung regions (i.e., the lowest areas in the lungs) to be smaller than those in non-dependent lung regions. During normal tidal breathing, dependent regions may have somewhat increased ventilation relative to non-dependent regions."

agree  Daryo: IOW where fluids flow by gravity **in the current position of the body** it's not an anatomical position relative to rest of the body but to Earth's gravity // no gravity = no "régions déclives" like in space
4 hrs
neutral  Sue Davis: but in that case why would it be the bottom of the lung? In the horizontal position all regions of the lung would drain downwards

in the absence of gravity anatomical terms would still be the same, except for prone/supine and "régions déclives".
