Chinese term

水灰分

Chinese to English Other Medical: Pharmaceuticals
灰分含量测定: 用灼烧重量法测样品中水、酸溶性和不溶性灰分含量,结果见表5。

And in table 5 of the original document, there are the values for "hydrotropic ash", "non-hydrotropic ash", "acid-soluble ash" and "acid-insoluble ash".

Question: I assume 水灰分 = hydrotropic ash... but I couldn't seem to find the term "hydrotropic ash" anywhere...

Water-soluble ash is right. The term "hydrotropic" exists, but doesn't fit here.

Luzou: My understanding is closer to Luzou's. Now my problem is whether I should use "water-soluble ash" or "hydrotropic ash". If a reader reads "water-soluble ash" in the text and "hydrotropic ash" in the table, he/she might get confused. Furthermore, is there really a term called "hydrotropic"???

FYI

My understanding is:

to measure the content of water-soluble ash, acid-soluble ash and water-insoluble ash in the samle.

灰 may not be ash。its meaning depends on the subject/specialty.
