Es dürfte sich wohl in diesem Zusammenhang um eine Anlehnung an 'feet on the ground' handeln. (die Entlehnung militärischer Begriffe ist ja ein bekanntes Phänomen im Wirtschaftsjargon). Der Satzzusammenhang sollte natürlich auf Deutsch lauten: ..., weltweit Portfolio Manager vor Ort zu haben (oder einzusetzen, um nicht wieder militärisch 'stationieren' zu sagen).
Damit ist 'realistisch' aus dem Rennen ;-)

präsent sein / Präsenz
in Anspielung auf die "kämpfende Truppe" sagt man ja auch "Präsenz". Hier ist meiner Meinung nach mit "boots on the ground around the world" schlicht die "globale Präsenz der Portfolio Manager" gemeint. So würde ich das in diesem Kontext verstehen und wiedergeben.
