A condition to be reached when securing gas lines:
"All work on fuel lines requires the lines to be purged with an inert gas, such as nitrogen. A zero energy state must be determined in the pipe section being worked on by measuring for explosive limits with the use of a gas detector. (The Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) or other similar data sheets for the particular fuel can be referred to for explosive limits).
NOTE: Whenever performing a purge on fuel line or other process lines, consideration must be given to the surrounding area to avoid asphyxiation hazards. Additional guidance on line opening can be found in Appendix I of this procedure."
