َAlthough the term "استروئید" is widely and correctly used for "steroid" I SUGGEST "استرولسان" or "استرولدیس" in order to make it a little more Persian.
Anyway, Mr. Koleili's answer is by no means rejectable, except that you should take this fact into cosideration that, with respect to the askers example, "steroids" refers to a series of drugs (containing molecules of sterol family) used to "relieve swelling and inflammation" (http://health.ginca.com/health/cd/s/).
"[Steroid is] a general term for a wide variety of chemicals, natural and synthetic. In the context of asthma, "steroids" is usually a shorthand way of referring to corticosteroid medicines (taken to reduce asthma inflammation). Other steroids, including natural and synthetic sex hormones (such as the testosterone-like compounds sometimes used by athletes to build their muscles), are generally unrelated to asthma."

Thus, in the latter sense (synthetic sex hormones) it can also be translated "مواد نیروزای هورمونی".
