Телевизионный канал «Спорт» покажет финал крупнейшего профессионального состязания – Мировой серии по бейсболу. Каналом приобретены права на семь финальных матчей, в которых по традиции встречаются сильнейшие клубы Американской и Национальной бейсбольных лиг. Решающие игры там в самом разгаре, причем в NLB уже известны финалисты – ими стали «Чикаго Кабс» и «Флорида Маринз». Первые переиграли в полуфинале «Атланту Бравез» - 3-2. А вторые – «Сан-Франциско Гиантс» - 3-1. А вот в ALB в финал прошел только клуб «Нью-Йорк Янкиз», в четырех встречах победивший «Минессоту Твайнз» - 3-1...

The Post Season
The post season generally begins in the first week in October with the Division Championship Series -- four separate series of games, two in each league. The division champion with the best record usually plays the wild card from its own league in a best-of-five series, and the remaining two division champions play each other in a similar five game series. All four of these series are structured so that the team with the better regular season record has home field advantage, essentially meaning that either two or three games -- the first two and, if necessary, the final game -- are played in that team\'s home stadium. In each of those four series, the first team to win three games advances to the next round of the playoffs, called the League Championship Series.

Each League Championship Series is a best-of-seven series. The home field advantage goes once again to the team with the best regular season record, which means in this case that that team will host the first two games, as well as the last two games, if they are necessary, with the middle three games being played at the opponent\'s stadium. The first team in each league to win four games is declared League Champion, and advances to the World Series for the chance to become World Champion.

The World Series
Called the Fall Classic, the World Series pits the two league champions against each other in a best-of-seven-games series, structured much like the Championship Series in the round before. Home field is not determined based on record, but on the result of the All-Star Game, which is played in mid-July. Whichever league\'s all-star team wins the All-Star Game becomes the host team for the World Series. This is a very recent change, used for the first time in 2003. Prior to 2003, the home field was determined simply on a rotating basis -- one year the American League would host, the following year the National League, and so on.

As in the Championship Series, the winning team is the first to win four games. That team is declared World Champion.

В финале чемпионата США по бейсболу встретятся две команды из Калифорнии

Две калифорнийские команды - San Francisco Giants и Anaheim Angels - встретятся в финальной серии чемпионата США по бейсболу, которая больше известна болельщикам, как \"Мировая серия\" (World Series), сообщает агентство AP.
Это стало известно после того, как клуб San Francisco Giants в понедельник обыграл St. Louis Cardinals в пятой игре со счетом 2:1, и стал победителем финальной серии \"Национальной лиги\" (National League).

А чемпион \"Американской лиги\" (American League) команда Anaheim Angels уже несколько дней назад закрепила себе место в главном финале чемпионата, также в пяти матчах, со счетом 4:1 обыграв Minnesota Twins.

Украшением \"Мировой серии\" 2002 года между San Francisco Giants и Anaheim Angels станет дуэль между звездами двух команд - Берри Бондза (Barry Bonds) из \"Гигантов\" (как переводится Giants) и Троя Глауса (Troy Glaus) из \"Ангелов\" (Angels).

До этого две калифорнийские команды встречались в \"Мировой серии\" три раза: в 1974 и 1988 годах Los Angeles Dodgers - Oakland Athletics и в 1989 году San Francisco Giants - Oakland Athletics.

Первая игра \'Мировой серии\', которая проводится до четырех побед, состоится 19 октября, в субботу в Лос-Анджелесе на стадионе команды Anaheim Angels Edison Field.

Вторая игра пройдет 20 октября там же, а затем команды переедут в Сан-Франциско, где 22, 23 и 24 октября на стадионе San Francisco Giants Pacific Bell Park проведут третий, четвертый и пятый матчи серии.

Если и пять матчей не выявят победителя чемпионата США по бейсболу 2002 года заключительные два поединка 26 и 27 октября пройдут в Лос-Анджелесе.
