why 5250???
by searching google with "5250 applications" and IBM very strange links emerge, as if it were a type of old applications but I cannot be sure. here is the context:
[questions that would help sales force to sell this refacing application]
"Qualification Questions:
- Are system screens part of your 5250 applications that you want to Web-enable?
- Do you need to integrate Web-enabled 5250 applications into a Portal?
(I also have the number 3270 with the same type of sentences)

3270 is a very old type of computer screen used on IBM mainframes.

5250 is used on AS/400 computers. Not quite so old. This is a real trip down memory lane!

Leave it as it is. 3270 is another type of mainframe environment. Can be ported to newer systems:

: Surely a Telnet 5250 emulator merely enables a non-IBM terminal (eg a Unix workstation or PC) to display data from an IBM mainfram application, using the TCP/IP Telnet protocol. A true IBMer would use a proper 5250 terminal, not stoop to using a PC.
