"citing his work in ""cast for" "the writing is on the wall"

Challenged by Jim in the Democratic Party primary in the summer of 1956, Governor Orval Faubus, citing his work in traveling to Washington and getting the congressional team¡¯s signatures for the Southern Manifesto, won renomination----but with 80,000votes cast for his antisegregation opponent, the writing is on the wall.

\"To cast a vote\" means to register a vote.

agree Jack Doughty : "The writing on the wall" comes from the Bible. See Daniel Chapter 5 verses 25-26. It predicted the end of Belshazzar's rule. Babylon was conquered by Darius, King of Persia, shortly afterwards.
