NOTES A LA SUITE
Précisons ces définitions:
CONSTRUIRE: ***faire tenir***.
AGENCER: résoudre les données pratiques d'un problème de confort.
ARCHITECTURE : prétendre à émouvoir.
I can think of several ways of translating this but am not sure which is best. This comes at the start of an article written by Le Corbusier in 1926.

Maintaining/Keeping things in place
Hello,
This may help you decide: La construction, c’est pour faire tenir, l’architecture c’est pour émouvoir. ... www.eki.ee/km/place/pl03/Place3_Havik.pdf
Construction is about keeping things in place, architecture is about move others emotionally
You just can't say "keeping in place" in English. You MUST say what it is (e.g, things, etc)
I hope this helps.
faire tenir = to make durable/last
Does it have to do with "durability"
