French term

la pénétration

Non-PRO French to English Law/Patents Law (general) Police Searches
Dear fellow translators,

The context is:

Qu'il s'agisse de l'endroit où s'effectue une perquisition (en précisant toutefois que *la pénétration* dans les lieux aura été faite pendant les heures légales), ou au siège d'un service de police.

Help please anyone. Many thanks in advance - much appreciated.

Discussion

MatthewLaSon Nov 5, 2009:
I would say: "Entry into/onto the premises took place within legal hours."
Chris Hall (asker) Nov 5, 2009:
Hi Anne-Marie... In the end, I have decided to use "entry" or "entering" depending on the specific context. Many thanks again.
Anne-Marie Grant (X) Nov 5, 2009:
'Entry' works well here, I think.

French term (edited): la pénétration (in this context)

the ingress

It seems to mean police entry onto premises to execute a search warrant; ingress seems a good synonym.
Note from asker:
Many thanks. You got me on the right lines. I decided to go for "entering". Kind regards, Chris.
