Comment: "I think I'll go with radicular pain here. Pascale offered some food for thought with "radicular discomfort", but when I searched Google, the phrase only got 9 hits, which is not what I would call a lot. So I think souffrance is just another way of saying douleur in this instance. Thank you all very much for your assistance."

This could be what you're looking for. If it was pain, I think they would have said 'douleur'.
'Radicular discomfort' gets a lot of Google hits, may be worth looking at all the contexts.
But here is something to explain the subtle difference between 'nerve root pain' and 'radicular pain'.
