French term

retour à la position initiale

Non-PRO French to English Other ducaiton physique
Est-ce bien de dire " during the relaxation portion of the exercie"?

Quand vous exécutez un exercice musculaire, vous devez toujours expirer à l'effort et inspirer durant le retour à la position initiale.

inhale as you return to your starting position

Or "the start position".
Just slightly different from the other answers.

breathe in during exertion, and out when relaxing

In English, instructions relating to exercise use "breathe in/out" rather than inhale/exhale: you want folks who are reading the instructions to understand them!

As for "relaxation" vs "relaxing," English is much more comfortable with gerunds to name actions, rather than "-tion" forms, whenever it's possible to do so ("exerting" wouldn't work, though).
