whatever you choose, you can’t go wrong

Highly versatile style: whatever you choose, you can’t go wrong

agree Richard Benham : This appeared while I was working on my idea. It is a perfectly viable alternative approach too.

hier: for any occasion

Items can be combined in many different ways for any occasion.

I am sure there are more catchy ways to say this, but this may be a start...

A ... look that works at home as well as at the office. Items can be combined in many different ways for any occasion.

How is that?
Peer comment(s):

agree Kim Metzger : I like this solution. Not literal by any means, but it gets the point across. I tried in vain to work in "can't go wrong."

Thanks, Kim. Marketing stuff is tough ... for me anyways ;-)
agree Evi Wollinger : You are right, Kim, I tried, too - and failed! Not as smooth.

neutral Richard Benham : Sorry to piss on the party, but how are you going to translate "für jeden Anlass" if you use "for every occasion" for the last bit?

VERY good point... back to the drawing board...

reword the whole thing?

I'm a technical translator, and marketing's not my bag, but....

"A casual and stylish leisure look for every occasion. Whether for work or for private times, you [or: your customers, depending on who this is aimed at] can't go wrong with these versatile mix-n-match garments."

I am sure some of the individual pieces of wording could be improved upon, but it's an idea. The reason I translated to whole passage is that the problem with Friderike's otherwise admirable suggestion is that it makes it hard to deal with "jeden Anlass". So I thought a more holistic approach was called for.

will always look great

'richtig liegen' in this case has nothing to do with the clothing itself - but with the decision to wear the clothing. That is why I'd translate as follows:

- The costumer is always right;
- or: The costumer will always look great
- or: ... can't do wrong
- etc.

Personally, I'd go for the second option as it fits the topic.
Example sentence:

The costumer is always right

The costumer will always look great

Peer comment(s):

agree Richard Benham : Well, it is about the clothes: it's saying the customer will always be right in choosing to wear them!
