Ref.1 - Ultrasound cannot be used to image bones because they are too dense to penetrate. In addition, the intestinal tract and normal lung tissue are not easily identified with ultrasound because air or gas interfere with the production of ultrasound images.
Intestinal gas hampers visualization of the intestinal tract.
Please see ref.2 - Also, any abdominal ultrasound procedure, diagnostic or therapeutic, may be hampered by a patient's body type or other factors, such as the presence of excessive bowel gas (which is opaque to ultrasound).
The intestinal tract is not easily identified with ultrasound because intestinal gas may interfere with the production of ultrasound images.
