I prefer "motherhood" and not "pregnancy" Si può diventare mamme a prescindere da una gravidanza (adozione, affidamento). E' vero. Nel testo si fa riferimento alla interruzione di gravidanza. Ma è solo un esempio di consapevolezza. L'adozione di un bambino con "special needs" per esempio IMO rientra nella sfera della maternità consapevole. Per questo motivo ritengo che il suggerimento di Judy "responsible motherhood" sia il più onnicomprensivo. A meno che il testo non faccia chiaramente riferimento ad un reparto/dipartimento ospedaliero per le nascite dei bambini. In tal caso specifico "pregnancy" va bene.

The topic is women's right to choose whether or not to terminate the pregnancy, so you were closer with "planned parenthood" (planned motherhood doesn't seem to be used, though)

Informed consent is more about whether or not to have electronic fetal monitoring, pain relief, instrumental delivery, emergency cesarean...

planned parenthood would involve the decision of both parents but your source text talks of pregnancy, what about if there is no father available to decide? Therefore, I think Lara's proposal is better.

agree Stuart and Aida Nelson : I think you are right. This was my first thought without reading further context. Surely, it has to do with abortion in case of anomalies of the foetus but I am not aware of a better way of describing it.
