Portuguese term

vai ter

Portuguese to English Art/Literary Poetry & Literature
“Se eu pegar vocês fazendo isso de novo vai ter!”

Can someone give me a suggestion here? “If I catch you doing this again…”

It doesn't have a specific meaning; it's an expression meaning merely a threat.
My idea is “…you’ll see!”, but I don’t like this solution.

you'll get it

Or you could be more specific and say...

"..you'll get a bunch of fives", or something :)

...you'll cop it

OR you'll be sorry, OR you'll know it

These are all British English AFAIK

My grandmother would have said "...or there'll be tears before bedtime"

agree Carla G.. : could you explain to me what "cop" means, please?

Yes, it means to incur unpleasant consequences - very colloquial British EN.

This is what I usually tell my sons (aged 7 and 5). It has worked up to now...
