This is the Asker with feedback to Jane's input. The text discusses the impact of Internet on a series of spheres (business, trade, international relations). The use of "In the wake..." as a connector seems appropriate in this context. I am hesitant, though, since George's response is also valid in that the things listed following "A la zaga..." are of less importance than those mentioned earlier in the text. \"lagging behind\" is another commonly used expression, equivalent to the Spanish \"estar a la zaga\".
