He told me he did not like my attitude and will not pay at all. Had to pay the translators from our own pocket and still not received a payment from them. The agency is operating to this. I had contacted debt collecting agency, but so far not much luck. Any advice on how to deal with this issue? ▲ Collapse | | | Blue Board Entry | May 28, 2014 |
Enter them into the Blue Board if this hasn't already been done and rank them ("1" is just good enough for them). http://www.proz.com/blueboard/ Sometimes this method works with an almost immediate effect. Dear Friend, Visit the embassy's trade department and check to see how you can file some sort of complaint. Also check the associations and trade organizations to which the agency belongs and get in touch with them to formally inform your problem. And then, if you feel that you need to do more, attack the source from which they water their plantation. The translators. Anywhere you feel that the agency has eyes and ears in social media, and on the internet, you attack, and call upon others who have suffered the same as you to come forth. You can of course inform them of what you are going to, and that you will make it your life's mission to deter them from ever doing this again. I would do all of the above and much worse...

This advice is a "very, very last resort" measure, and I only recommend it because apparently this particular PM is an exceptionally cheeky specimen it would seem. Send them a copyright notice. See more This advice is a "very, very last resort" measure, and I only recommend it because apparently this particular PM is an exceptionally cheeky specimen it would seem. Send them a copyright notice. Withdraw consent to the use of your intellectual property and make clear that you will inform everyone, including the end-client, that you no longer authorize the use of your property because it hasn't been paid. It's legally sound throughout all judicial systems in the EU and it works. However, if you bark you have to follow up with a bite. Be prepared to forward your copyright claim to the end-client, technically you have to, as they are the actual infringers, albeit unknowing ones. For the future, keep in mind that this is a measure that should be reserved for the boldest and most blatant rip-off artists and as a very last resort. You don't want to get a name in the industry as someone eager to get in touch with your clients' customers. ▲ Collapse | |

Good luck! Yes, this often works. Give them a negative BB rating and tell them. If they offer to pay you on condition that you change your BB rating from a negative one to a positive one, say you will, wait to get paid, and then consider what to do. Ask yourself: would it be misleading to other Prozians if, after your bad experience, you left them with the impression that this is a a good agency to work with?

Give them a bad blue boardranking. I also work with other freelancers to be able to assure multilingual projects but than always ask for at least 80 % of the money before starting to work. Then it's not my risk. My direct clients understand and do accept that and pay normally 100 % before we start. | | | To report site rules violations or get help, contact a site moderator: You can also contact site staff by submitting a support request » Seeking advice on how to deal with a non-payer Protemos translation business management system | Create your account in minutes, and start working! 3-month trial for agencies, and free for freelancers!
