Hello everyone I'm looking for a good and free subtitling software. I've always used subtitle workshop but I have troubles using it with windows 8 and 10...I suppose the last version is not compatible with these OS? Does anyone know anything about this? thank you very much

Hi Frederica, you can use SubtitleEdit. It works well with both Windows 8 and 10. Best, Thayenga

Frederica: I tried Aegisub (www.aegisub.org) and found it to be very complete and powerful. It suited my needs perfectly, although it took me a little bit at first to figure out how to use it. It cut the time to lay down subtitles by at least 30%, so I am pleased with it. Regards, Enrique

I had the same problem with Subtitle Workshop on my Windows 10 but I tried downloading an older version (2.51) and it's working just fine! Cheers, Zuzana

Regards, Enrique I agree, Aegisub is very good, although not extremely intuitive. But once you get used to it, there is no turning back. Also, don't use "Save As", if you are supposed to provide your result not in .ass format. You can open, edit and save a file in another format, but "Save As" provides only an .ass option. But this is the only downside I've found so far.

Regards, Enrique It's an excelent tool with a user-friendly interface. Its graphic section lets you know when voices/sounds are on.
