Please reply to me in English as I am a Russian beginner.
I believe my Russian grammar book is wrong. I have some problems with the past and future forms of such a phrase: чья это одежда? их (это их is wrong, isn't it?)
I wonder whether I have to use это or not in the past and future forms.

Past: "чья была это одежда? это была их" or "чья это была одежда? это была их" or "чья была одежда? была их"?
Future: "чья будет это одежда? это будет их" or "чья это будет одежда? это будет их" or "чья будет одежда? будет их"?
Thanks!

их can stand for both their and theirs. i.e., Whose shirts are these?- Theirs. These are their shirts. In both the sentences in Russian we will use их. moreover, их also coincides with forms of personal pronoun они - Я не вижу их (I don't see them), an Accusative here

^^^^ Short and most correct form.
If you answer in "detailed" form, you should say:
"Чья это была одежда? - Это была их одежда" "Чья это будет одежда? - Это будет их одежда"
