We have to remember that it's important not only to understand the essence of the original term, but also to find a suitable equivalent that would invoke the same reaction amongst native Spanish speakers. Little gems like this is what translation is all about - carrying something across to a different culture...

: Hi Mike, I think these suggestions are a bit too strong - twerp isn't a very strong or offensive word - a twerp is just "a bit of an eejit", as we say in Ireland :)

I hear you. So of the "strong" words that are used actually are not that strong in certain Spanish speaking countries whereas they are in others. But it is a good point, nonetheless. Mike :)

: I agree with mediamatrix - most of the synonyms are somewhat wide of the mark. This is one of those gems that doesn't tranlsate easily into another culture. An upper class twerp is not a "don nadie", more like a spoilt, rich kid who's a bit of an idio
