English term

fish or fishes?

Non-PRO English to Spanish Science Marine biology
From a marine biology book about 'Fishes in the Pacific Ocean'. Is this the correct term from a scientific point of view? I don't have a problem translating the term to Spanish (peces), but would like to know if 'fishes' is correct.

Fish for same species, fishes for different species

The term "fish" is used when referring to one species of fish, no matter how many individuals are present. The term "fishes" is used when more
