It was a great success! We had a total attendance of 16 translators !!!!

Wa had the attendance of experienced translators & interpreters as well as not so experienced ones, we exchanged ideas for networking; talked about the fees we charge locally and all agreed that outside of our local area it is a totally different game and fees as well. It is good to know how others are working.

We also heard about a couple of colleagues who use TM software which it is not as common in Mexico as elsewhere, and we heard good things from the users, although most of the non-users of TMs like me, are still hesitant about them.

We also had several people who have been part of Translator & Interpreters Associations and we will look further into starting something at the local level first.

The plan is to stay in touch, I think that with a group mail that was just open today thiis can be achieved and we can all share experiences, "black lists" of clients (bad-payers), etc., we can come together to set local prices and we can also help each other at moments of need when we are overwhelmed with work and maybe someone else is not so busy.

Locally, the translators & interpreters who I met before have helped me and taught a great deal of things and I think it is time to have more interested professionals "share this wealth" of experience and knowledge that will help us be better; although we all agreed that only "practice makes perfect", that you really get better and better with time and experience, just like good wine!
