Who could recommend a reliable translation software that runs on MAC? I didn't have good experiences with Word Fast and Omega T.

TMX viewer utility Apr 12, 2012

I'll plug my shareware TMX memory viewer for MacOSX: www.jfbraun.com/xoterm .
By no means a real CAT tool, but perhaps useful.

No problems with Wordfast Pro on Mac Apr 12, 2012

I've been running WF Pro on my Mac since 2009 and haven't had any problems. What problems are you experiencing?

Unfortunately I had to install Parallels in order to run most other translation software programmes.

I tried a demo version and every time I wanted to save the translated file I had a "java leap error" message and couldn't save it.

No issues running WF Pro on Mac Apr 13, 2012

I've been running WF Pro on Mac for a year and haven't experienced any problems. The demo was good for the short while I could use it before the segment limit hit but I also never had any trouble saving files.

Virtual machine Apr 13, 2012

I personally use Trados 2007 and 2011 on a virtual machine (parallels) and works perfectly, like all the other windows softwares..

Try a web-based system Jan 15

You should try a web-based translation management system.

Look into Pairaphrase. Works on Mac, PC and other devices like iPad & iPhone. You can access it via web browser so that you don't need to download it.

-Translation memory
-Batch file translation
-Automatic file formatting
-Security (good for clients w/confidential info)
-Voice-over output
-Collaborative real-time post-editing

Good luck!

Working in the browser? I don't like it Jan 16

For me, working in a browser is less productive than working in a dedicated CAT tool that is running on my Mac. With any local solution, security is better. Automation is far easier.
