German term (edited): Langstapel Baumwolle
Selected

long-staple cotton

is the term I know. "Long-staple cotton" gets 97,200 Googles, as against 1,400 for "long-fibre cotton".

The Oxford dictionary defines "staple" as "the fibre of cotton or wool etc., as determining its quality (e.g. cotton of fine staple).

Reminds me of all those things we learnt at school about the Wool Staple and so on ....

long-fibre cotton

or long fiber cotton

Incidentellay, the correct German would be "Langstapel-Baumwolle" or "Langstapelbaumwolle"
