Does the patient have to fill anything out on the "justificatif de remboursement" is sent in?That's why I thought it was a "claim." The patient has to pay first and then he gets reimbursed by the insurance company.

OK, I think I may have it: Within three weeks of being discharged, the Accounting Department will issue you with a statement for the services provided. The invoice will either be sent directly to the insurer (if an agreement exists) or the patient, who may claim it back (accounting department: 022.839.56.20). So, if I'm not mistaken, the "justificatif de remboursement" is an invoice that is sent to the patient, and the patient then sends it to their insurance. And if that's right, then I think Juliebarba's use of "claim" would work. What do you think?

That's true Laura, but then in the UK we don't see doctor's bills so I have no English language reference point against which to compare this. Perhaps you have something similar in the US?

It may fit the context, but I'm not sure if I've even seen the statement "grounds for reimbursement" on a standard doctor's bill.

Hi Rob and Angeliki. I should have been more specific, this is taken from a Swiss medical invoice. I also just happened to find the following:
Avec Tarmed, les factures envoyées aux assureurs institutionnels (SUVA, AI, AMF) sont imprimées sur papier blanc, sans bulletin de versement. Les factures adressées aux patients (Justificatif de remboursement) sont aussi imprimées sur papier blanc, suivies de l'impression des bulletins de versement correspondant (sur papier A4 avec BVR orange).
So, I'm wondering if in this case, "justificatif de remboursement" just simply means the patient's copy of the bill?
