Italian term

Lunga serialità per la TV

Italian to English Art/Literary Cinema, Film, TV, Drama
The original IT:
Lunga serialità per la TV: Al momento è in produzione la seconda serie di “XXX”, nonché le nuove lunghe serie, a più basso costo, attualmente in preparazione.

Long-running TV series: The second season of “XXX” is also presently in production as well as the two new long-runing series produced at lower costs.

I'd like to know if long-running and long-running series is the correct translation here. It refers to a TV series 24X'50 format, meaning 24 episodes (50 min. each) in one year. Long-running gives me more the impression of a series that has been running for years. I.e. FRIENDS was a long-running series. Any expert advice on this one?

full/entire season or extended run

A television series is considered to have a full season with 24-26 episodes. Sometimes, however, only 13 episodes are ordered. So, I would say one of the following:

- if you are referring to programming that generally has a 13-episode order, say "extended run"
- if you are referring to regular programming, say "full season," "entire season," or "full production".

multi-segment series

I agree with you 100% on "long running"! The problem is that in Italy so many tv series are relatively short, so I am guessing they wanted to explain that this has mutlple segments!

Here are some links for you to compare use/context w/your doc:

Hope this helps! :)

extended series

This gets quite a lot of Ghits, and seems plausible to me, whilst avoiding the potential confusion involved with 'long-running' as you quite rightly mention.
