Buttermilch

In Holland heisst es karnemelk, churned milk seems to be a litteral translation of karnemelk..

agree Eckhard Boehle : www.thehollandring.com/food.shtml: Karnemelk: literally 'churned milk' (buttermilk). It has a thin substance and is rather sour.

Buttermilch

says Muret Sanders.
Apparently, churned milk is US usage.
Which would make sense to me as I would call it buttermilk in BE.

agree Klaus Herrmann : Auch weiß, aber anders als gestern... Nettes Wörterbuch zum Thema: http://www.xs4all.nl/~margjos/karnemel.htm
