French term

à l’échelle du substrat

French to English Tech/Engineering Electronics / Elect Eng
Semiconductor-related patent.

This "échelle" would appear to be an actual object... or is it a very inelegant (surprisingly illiterate?) way of saying "all over the substrate"?

scaffolding

For more info on this, try googling mems devices for as much as you can possibly digest. I would be inclined simply to say "bonded or soldered onto the substrate", though in a very different context, collagen is grown onto a bone "scaffolding".

or microelectronics in general if these are not specifically mems devices.
Note from asker:
thanks... yes 'scaffolding' is a nice "interpolation" (I'm avoiding the word "guess" given what I already know of your expert knowledge!). I did a bit of googling but nothing conclusive enough... will stick with your "generic" solution I think...

across the substrate

I would define in this way.

according to the substrate scale

I think, this is the answer:

at substrate level

I too am finding it quite difficult to get my head round this one!

I feel sure it does indeed mean 'scale' (i.e. here pretty small) — but it sounds so odd to express it that way in EN, I was trying to come up with something else that would mean the same thing but sound less awkward.

I'm assuming it means tiny little brazes on a scale commensurate with the small scale of the substrate (onto which many of these are to be fitted).
