I\'m a bit slow today. I\'ve only just realised what JLDSF is saying, below. In answer: yes, you are right the duration of treatment is ambiguous, but no more so than in the French, I feel. My understanding is that the treatment will be a one-off. If it definitely isn\'t then I think one would have to be more explicit and say \"during several day-stays in hospital.
On another note, I make a distinction between outpatients, who come for treatment but do not stay (ie they do not have even a day bed) and day-stay patients who do have a bed, usually for a few hours.

: There actually are "medical day care" programs now, which were created for just this sort of case.

: sounds good but ambiguous on the length /duration - it could require a 5-day hospitalization or even be a 2-week day hospitalization program

the "day-stay" expression I am familiar with always refers to just one day, i.e. not overnight.

day patient care
Another accepted way of calling this kind fo treatment.
I've seen three ways of calling this kind of treatment in the US:
- out-patient care
- day patient care
- and for adults,(usually senior citizens who should not be left alone for auto-medication):
adult day care.
The first two apply to all ages and types of treatment that does not require full hospitalization.

Oops, sorry, it should read \"this kind of treatment\". and \"treatment that do not require\". I typed this before my first cup of copy :)

Here is a link to support Rita\'s suggestion. Many more that go along with her suggestion if you search \"outpatient treatment IL-2\" (This is not for my suggestion, but I didn\'t know where to post it since I\'d already agreed with Rita, I couldn\'t add it on hers.)
