German term

Klickerei

German to English Other Gaming/Video-games/E-sports Action/Fantasy Video Game
Anspruchslose* Klickerei* oder taktisches Vorgehen?

This is a subtitle for the article, which reviews a fantasy/action video game. The rest of the paragraph then goes on to describe how the players can be controlled. I have this as clicking, but that just doesn't seem to fit. Slang and jargon are acceptable as long as they fit the context (AE only please). Thanks!

Discussion

Nicole Schnell Jul 20, 2007:
Why would you want to smash, i.e. break those poor little buttons? Have they been bad? And why is this supposed to be American?
Courtney Sliwinski (asker) Jul 18, 2007:
@Stefani: How about button smashing? Sounds more AE, and is a little bit slang.
Stefanie Reinhold Jul 18, 2007:
button mashing might sound right in the UK (not sure), but as a US resident and (part time :-) gamer, I feel it would sound very odd for the US audience...
Courtney Sliwinski (asker) Jul 18, 2007:
I just found a reference for button mashing. That's not bad!

German term (edited): Anspruchslose Klickerei

mindless clicking

Clicking is ok, imo, but I would add 'mindless' to capture the meaining of 'Klickerei'.

senseless clicking

Similar to random, senseless as in:

Websters -

3. lacking meaning; nonsensical:

However in combination with clicking it could be an unusual word pair. On the other hand this is for a game software so I guess free flow of imagination could be positive!

neutral Kim Metzger : Similar to mindless, too?
