This is talking about the differences between the printed staff magazine and a new intranet. The sentence here describes the advantages of the intranet over the printed magazine. For "direkt aktiv", I can't think of anything other than "directly active", but I don't really like the sound of it - das klingt ein bißchen falsch.
Anyone got some other ideas? TIA for your help.

interactive
'direkt aktiv' has the same feel as the buzzword 'interactive' - and it's appropriate to the context of explaining the advantages of an online magazine

to become selective
I know it's not a translation of direkt active werden, but in the whole context I think it fits. "One has the ability to become selective - namely by clicking, printing, and downloading just that information that one needs for ones own work."

get/be active right away /immediately

interact
"On the other hand, you can interact (have the option of interaction) with [the company Intranet] by ... " or " ... you have the possibility of interacting with [the company Intranet] by ... ".
Depending, I suspect, on how technically aware/dumbed-down the tone of the writing is. :-)
