In German \"Motorsegler\" doesn\'t mean a sailing boat with a 5 PS auxiliary motor (we would call it \"nutshell\") but a boat where the motor is strong enough to handle the boat without sails even at a rough sea.

agree John Speese : This is the term I've always heard (motorsailer) for a boat with sails but also with an in-board motor, as most of them are nowadays. My parents were fortunate enough to have owned one.

Yacht with auxiliary motor

(for emergency use).
Although I grant the above use of motorised glider, I hardly think the wares you are talking about often take off.... at least, not into the air.
