Sono stati inoltre ricercati i microrganismi patogeni che possono inquinare i prodotti vegetali, quali Listeria monocytogenes, Aeromonas hydrophila, Salmonella spp. ed E. coli O157:H7. Per quanto riguarda gli ortaggi di IV gamma, nel 56,25% dei campioni analizzati la CMT era nell'ordine di 10*[7) ucf/g e il 19,64% non e' risultato conforme ai limiti indicati dalla legislazione francese (5*10*[7) ufc/g); nel 32,76% dei casi, i coliformi totali erano nell'ordine di 10*[3) e nel 24,41% di 10*[4) ufc/g. cara maribea -ehm- ti ringrazio, ma so perfettamente quale è la differenza tra batteri,lieviti,muffe etc.Il punto è che,come ti ho spiegato e dimostrato,sono tutti considerati *microbi* e, per questo,rientrano tutti nella 'total microbial count'.

Total Bacterial Count
CMT è l'acronimo italiano per Carica Microbica Totale, la traduzione inglese richiede ovviamente l'inversione delle lettere, per cui è accettabile anche la risposta "Total Microbial Count - TMC" della collega Mirra: in pratica sono entrambe usate e sono intercambiabili. Da notare che tale parametro viene impiegato per analisi su ogni tipo di alimento (latte, yogourth, frutta, ecc.)

Endospore abundance
Spore formers have previously been found among isolates
acquired from a visibly silty layer in GISP2 ice at 3043 m,
which had a total microbial concentration of 1–9
107 cells mL1 (Sheridan et al., 2003; Miteva et al., 2004;
Miteva & Brenchley, 2005). However, they note that spore
formers were not dominant in their culture collection.
Spore-forming bacteria have also been isolated from
750 000 year old Guliya ice (Christner et al., 2003) and from
a Malan Glacier ice core (0–102 m) (Zhang et al., 2001,
2002).While spore formers have been isolated from deep ice
cores, no studies have been previously undertaken to
determine the abundance of the endospores themselves in
these systems. Our DAPI stained fluorescence enumeration
in correlation with spectroEVA data suggest that endospores
are 10% of the total bacterial population in this GISP2
sample. This is the first study that assesses the ratio of spore
formers to the total bacterial population in any ice core
sample.

Inoltre, che PubMed dia 0 risultati per 'total microbial concentration' mi sembra possa chiudere definitivamente la questione.
E così dovrebbe essere anche per lei visto quanto ha scritto rispetto alla sua grande capacità di utilizzare PubMed e alla fiducia che ripone in questo motore di ricerca fornito dal NIH.

Direi che la dimostrazione che 'total microbial concentration' non esiste, almeno come misura standard, si possa ampiamente considerare conclusa.

Infatti, PubMed è uno strumento molto importante non solo per i ricercatori ma anche per i traduttori di argomenti biomedici e, al di là delle discussioni e/o delle polemiche, può valere la pena capire come usarlo.
Si entra da qui http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sites/entrez
e si digita l'argomento/l'autore da cercare.
Tuttavia, PubMed è caratterizzato da alcune particolarità per quanto riguarda la 'stringa di ricerca'. Infatti, racchiudere il testo tra le virgolette ("...") non assicura in alcun modo (a differenza da quanto avviene in altri motori di ricerca) che il testo cercato sia totalmente fedele a quello digitato, perché in realtà viene -a volte - modificato in base a criteri interni alla configurazione di PubMed.
In particolare,
nel caso della stringa
"total microbial concentration"
si può notare come (accedendo alla parte 'advanced search' e quindi alla sezione 'details') la stringa che poi viene effettivamente utilizzata è questa
total[All Fields] AND microbial[All Fields] AND ("attention"[MeSH Terms] OR "attention"[All Fields] OR "concentration"[All Fields])
(ovvero comprendente anche il termine 'attention')
per questo emergono 2878 risultati.
Invece, se noi impostiamo la stessa ricerca, direttamente dalla pagina 'advanced search', impostando l'opzione 'AND' a dividere i campi, la stringa di ricerca diviene veramente 'total AND microbial AND concentration)
e in questo caso il risultato è 0.
Per quanto riguarda invece la stringa 'total microbial count', il sistema PubMed reagisce differentemente (probabilmente perché non "disturbato" da una parola così biologicamente importante coem 'concentration', immagino) e sia automaticamente che autonomamente imposta da subito la corretta stringa "total AND microbial AND count" ("total microbial count"[All Fields]) trovando 23 risultati, tutti validi.
Spero di essere riuscita a spiegarmi chiaramente perché PubMed è veramente uno strumento utile! :))
